Hey guys I was wondering if you can look at my mdapplicants page and see what you think, because I have a feeling like I will have to reapply next cycle and wanted to improve my application. My GPA unfortunately wont move that much only like .03, so I am focusing more on extracurriculars.

Here are the extracurriculars I am doing now and the stuff I am going to be doing this year:

Volunteer Work:

1) International volunteer work in the Dominican Republic building ecological villages and teaching English (1 month)
2) Volunteer work at a local hospital in the CCU and ICU (1 year)
3) Volunteer work at an Infant & Child Learning Center which caters to premature born children (1 year) (have just set this up)
4) Volunteer work in the ER department of SUNY Downstate (6 months) (next semester)

Physician Shadowing:

1) Internal Medicine Doctor (doing this during winter break)
2) Another Doctor

Leadership:
1) Biology Workshop Leader/Tutor (2 years)
2) MCAT Instructor (1 year)

Research:
1) Research – Lipid biosynthesis (1 year)
2) Research Assistant at SUNY Downstate in the ER Department (6 months) (next semester)

Awards:
1) Toshiba National Science award in high school
2) Award from my chemistry department in college for excellence in the physical sciences
3) Deans list for 7 of my semester for over a 3.5 GPA for that semester

Misc:

1) Worked 2 jobs at the same time 30 hours a week roughly (2.5 years)

The stuff that is highlighted in red is what I am planning on doing and the amount of time I will have spent doing that until I reapply next cycle. This time I will be applying early!!!

What do you guys think? Is there anything else I can do

ECs are nice, but they won't do too much to help your app.
I was a little confused, did you apply this cycle?

Your stats are around average, but you applied to a pretty good selection of schools. If it doesn't work out this time, add some more schools, maybe DO as well if you are open to that.

:luck:

Yes I applied this cycle, so just in case I have to reapply again what should I do to make my application more competative

I think that you're pretty competitive-- when did you submit your amcas? I don't know, personally wouldn't worry about reapplying until you get rejected this year.

I submitted my amcas in july and I sent in my secondaries around 9/15 when my MCAT results came back.

This is probably the reason why you have not heard anything yet. Give it some time!

Alright so next cycle I will be submitting on the first day and turning my secondaries around really quickly ( < 1 week). Is there anything else I can do to improve my application. What do you guys think of the extracurriculars that I will have for next cycle?

After your primary is verified, you can add more schools instantaneously. Thus, you don't have to apply to every school all at once, you can do them in groups, that way you don't receive a billion secondaries at once and rush through them so you can finish them quickly.

should i take the MCAT again???

Since you've listed that you are an MCAT instructor, you should already know the answer to this. You made a pretty good score(I don't know about the writing), if you are sure you can improve then I would say yes take it again. If not, and you are satisfied with your score then don't waste your time and money.
