when i interviewed at gtown the other interviewees were young. there were only 3 older applicants in a group of 15 or so, a huge change from my uvm interview.
i got a good vibe about the place. it has a great location, and the clinical training is excellent. the students didn't seem particularly jazzed about the pre-clinical curriculum (made it seem rather boring) but still seemed pretty satisfied with it even though it wasn't all that exciting. clinically they work you really hard, but their students match into excellent residencies. i got the feeling that they really care about their students and want to select students who are excited about their philosophy, serving the community, and the humanitarian aspects of medicine. the facilities weren't great, but i didn't think they were as bad as some people make them out to be. i think it would be an exciting place to go to school because of its location in a nice area of dc, the diversity of patients, and the fact that it is on the undergrad campus. i also like that they are straightforward about the education you receive. they were honest about the rigors of the clinical years and the not-so-exciting pre-clinical years. they were also honest in saying that it is probably best to go to your state school to save money.
if you want to go there and get put on the highly select list, write to them and tell them what a good match the school is for you. i'm pretty sure that my letter and my interview got me in.
