In terms of the classes you took 10 years ago, I believe it does matter because some information become outdated and you need to refresh your memory on the basics anyways, despite the work that you do outside of school (be it work or volunteer).

I'd say the best thing you can do and should do is call a couple of schools that you are interested in applying to next fall and tell them your situation personally. Then afterwards, you could gather all the information that the school administrators (admission counselors, etc), and formulate your own conclusion on what to do next. I don't think there's anything anyone here could say that would rectify your situation in a quick and simple manner. I only say this because the majority of us haven't gone through what you did.
