I was planning on taking a kaplan class asap to just familiarize myself with the material before i begin to study.. then study my butt off and take the class again in the spring before my DATs

Kaplan lets you repeat the class for free... so I was thinking... if I am going to pay to take it in the spring, I might as well have a free go at it now...

Only, the only one in my area meets on Thursday nights, which of course is the only day I have night class...

Sooo is there another kind of class anyone would suggest? do they also have the free repeat thing?

I think learn better from classes as opposed to just doing it myself...

If money is not a concern, you can also try getting personal tutors whether they be from Kaplan or other independent institutions.

Otherwise, you can try taking the online lesson that Kaplan offer. its slightly cheaper than the classroom DAT prep but you are given almost all the same resources pretty much. However, I am not sure if the online DAT class offers free repeat, so this might be something that you will have ask your local Kaplan representative.

If you are from the NYC area, I heard Dr. Romano also offers a DAT prep course.

I took the Kaplan course in my Spring 2007 semester as a DAT "warm up." I then repeated the course for free over the summer just for the online resources, which is also free when you repeat the class. The online resources are grand but I suggest studying from as many sources as possible.

My friend has this huge Kaplan blue book from 1 or 2 years ago and many of the sample test questions in that book are identical to what Kaplan put up online. So all that content they are selling you was already printed in their old blue book (or at least most of it.)

I would have taken a class if I had the time. The more times you see concepts, either in questions or during review, the better. The way I see it, it's one of those times when redundancy can turn out to be a good thing.
