I hear a lot about GPA's on the site and I wanted to put out some food for thought. Who do you think looks better to dental schools: A person whose mommy and daddy pays for their education and/or the person doesn't work and only goes to school living off of student aid and gets a 3.7 or higher OR a person who works 40 hours a week as a dental assistant of hygienist and goes to school part time and only manages a 3.4-3.69?
I am asking only because I am wondering if schools truely only look at GPA's (like the person in part A of the question) or do they look at everything else an applicant has (part B of question). Some will ask what is so special about person B.
Person B can handle a heavier work load and more pressure, IMO, than person A. Now, I am not saying that person A is a bad applicant and would not get accepted so please do not read into the question.
Just some food for thought.
