Hi! Can you give me some advice? I am applying to Creighton (distance) and the University of Minnesota. I have an overall GPA of 3.61 since I screwed up my GPA about 6 years ago. Since then, I have gone back to school and have a 3.95 GPA over the last 85 credits and have received A's in all of my prereqs besides Organic 1 (missed an A by 7 pts out of 809). My husband lost his job in February, we're in the process of losing our house, and I just had out third child and was stressed out with a high risk pregnancy/bedrest all summer so wasn't able to study/concentrate. I just got my PCAT scores back and they were NOT GOOD:

VA: 419/77
Biology: 430/88
Reading: 404/52
QA: 401/43
Chem: 418/72
Composite: 414/71

I would like to retake in October however nothing has really changed and I will still not be able to study since I have a newborn now and am taking 16 credits. I'm thinking about just withdrawing my applications and waiting until next year to apply (retaking the PCAT in January). Any advice??

Oh, by the way, I just started volunteering at a pharmacy in the area and will start shadowing a pharmacist next week.

I would continue on and go ahead and apply. What do you really have to lose? But that's just my opinion.

I agree with PharmDream10. Just go on and see what happens. I've been there too, so I really admire what you have done and wish you best of luck. I also have a toddler, and my husband and I are getting by now and trying to keep our house... But you know what, lets not give up and go on, alright? Just give your best and Im sure the best will come back to you.

Thanks for the advice guys... I'm just having a really bad year and my PCAT scores definitely reflect that. What scares me is that the average PCAT score for the University of Minnesota is 84 and for Creighton distance pathway is 89. The reading and math definitely stand out like a sore thumb among the rest of my low section scores but I haven't yet taken enough calculus for it to bring up my PCAT score and I have NO IDEA what happened in the reading section. I'm just really bummed...

Don't worry about your PCAT. You will be a competitive applicant just based on your previous experiences. There is nothing for you to loose if you apply this year. Plus, even if you don't get in this year, then you can ask admission staff what were the weaknesses in your application. Don't get discouraged becoz of PCAT!
