opt club update

i've corresponded with a few opt colleges and in the fall/spring nova, pco, newenco and scco will come to visit my school and talk about optometry and their school. i'll have to set up a date closer to fall when school starts. as usual suny will also visit bc most ppl in the club want to go there bc they can graduate early with the joint program....and thats all the activities lined up for that club. we might all go to visit an optometrist a few times a year for the shaddowing experience as a group bc theres only about 8 of us now.
i thought you'd all like to know what was going on with the opt. club that is just forming in my school because i know alot of you gave me suggestions and told me about how great your clubs were going.

Just thought I'd give you another idea about what you could do with the club. You could have an on-going fundraiser for TWECS (Third World Eye Care Society). Look it up on the web http://www.twecs.ca/ . Anyhow, they collect old eye glasses for people in third world countries and then go out to the countries and fit ppl with the right glasses. This organization is always looking for more pairs of old glasses, so you could have an ongoing fundraiser. Basically, just get everyone in the club to ask everyone they know to give them their old glasses. You'll be surprised at how quickly you get a lot of them....then send the glasses away to this organization. I think the're located in Vancouver, B.C. Anyhow, if you've got any questions give me a holla.

that is a good idea...i should be president of this club..not public relation bc i end up doing more than the pres. does....its just that the president of this club doesnt care bc she got into the 3+4 suny opt program.....bc i feel like im doing everything for this club, but thats only bc i'm the only interested in going somewhere other than ny.
