Congrats to all members who matched this year...YAY! You guys are great models to be emulated.

My question concerns the optimal numbers of away rotations to participate. I come from a school in the deep South, not among the top 50 NIH schools. We have a RadOnc division with a newly established rotation for M4s but no residency program as of yet. I've heard of stories from two opposite spectra...few doesn't do any away rotations while others take a year off and do all away RadOnc rotations. What would be a happy medium? Thank you.

there is no straightforward answer. an applicant with a step 1 score of 200, with b/c average, no AOA, no pubs and no other grad degrees may do more aways than someone with stellar credentials. you have to do what is best for you (based on your stats, schedule, personal life, geographic preferences, etc). if you fill in some of the holes, it may be easier for people to comment on your situation.
