optional secondary essays- really optional?

Hi! Maybe someone could help me out here- When filling out secondary applications, is it just stupid to leave the optional "Is there anything else you would like to tell us?" essay blank?
I am very sick of writing secondaries, but don't want to shoot myself in the foot. If important, please suggest topics.

Just an idea. Write about stuff that you want to talk about during the interview. The people/persons may have your secondary during your interview and maybe stuff you wrote about will come up.

Absolutely fill them out. Don't leave ANY blank. There is always something you can think to write about yourself.
