3.61 cGPA

Around 3.22 sGPA

Gen chem 1: C

Gen chem 2: W, A Gen chem 1 lab: W, B

Gen chem 2 lab: W, B

Calc 1: C-, C+, A (retook junior year fall semester)

Calc 2: A

Physics 1: A

Physics 2: A

Physics 1 Lab: A

Orgo 1: GPNCed the class so I received a P my first time(actual grade was a B- but that won’t show up on my transcript), retook the class got an A

Orgo 2: Also GPNCd but got a B- again due to missing two exams for health reasons, retaking currently but it’s not looking good

Bio 1: A-

Bio 2: W, C

Bio 3: A-

What are my options to remediate my grades and prove myself? I am currently ending my junior year and I have had a pretty strong upward trend but I have Cs throughout my application and this semester is not looking too good for me. My Ws are all from second semester of freshman year and due to health issues and a car accident. I still have two semesters left but I am unsure if I should plan for more semesters with harder science classes to prove myself, should I do a diy post bacc and retake courses I did poorly on, or do a formal SMP or postbacc

1) Seek out your school's learning or education center for help.

2) Read my post on reinvention for premeds.

3) do not retake any course where you got a C or better
Got it! Thank you.

Also, do you believe I should look into an SMP or stay an extra year at my current college to remediate grades? I took microbiology this semester and performed well. And would you know anything about how MD schools view a P (from Grade Pass or Fail; allows me to set my grade threshold to something like B or higher gets a grade, B- and lower gets a P, F gets an NC) versus a Withdraw?

I can try to retroactively withdraw from Orgo 2 in the summer, in which I initially got a P. However, I wasn’t sure if that would be my best course of action due to the fact that I already have 3 Ws from spring semester of freshman year (due to my car accident). I used the GPNC option for orgo 2 during the summer because I was unable to take two midterms, both excused, due to medical reasons.

You could do an SMP if your grades in upper-level biomedical science class are solid (like 3.7 aggregate GPA for those classes). P's don't count towards the GPA, but you should take all your prereqs and upper-level biomed science courses for traditional marks (ABC).
