Hi all,

Today I decided to call a school to see what the status of my application is, and the school informed me that they've yet to receive my 2nd letter of recommendation. This is particularly worrisome because I have four on my file since mid-October. I remember this was a problem for a previous school I interviewed at, and they had to go search for it. I just wanted to bring this up to all the applicants just in case you guys haven't heard back from some schools after a long period of time.

Hey - I also just wanted to add something to this thread about LOR and optomcas:

Optomcas will post the status of your LOR as "complete" even if it has only received either the ratings form or the actual letter. One of my professors had forgotten to include the ratings form with the letter when she sent it, and I didn't realize this until a school I applied to sent me a notice saying that the LOR was incomplete. When I called optomcas, the rep explained that if any part of the LOR is sent to optomcas, they will change the status to complete. So basically it's up to the applicant to call optomcas and follow up with the actual status of each LOR.

since optomcas only opens up jul 15, you can only start asking your LOR writers then right? is there any way to do it earlier? because i want my app in asap

OMG. Just ask them ahead of time if they will write you a letter and explain the situation to them, the time frame you need the letter in, and the process. It's not a big deal.
