Hi guys!

My girlfriend and I have a friend who is currently taking his prereqs for Optometry school. We would like to get him a book that deals generally with the Optometry admissions process (i.e. covers more than just the OAT).

Is there any such book? A cursory search of Amazon didn't turn up much...

Thanks!

Hey,

I guess it depends on what you're looking for. The OptomCAS website is actually a great resource if you would like to know which prerequisites are required for specific schools, how many and what type of recommendations are required, and deadlines for optomcas and supplemental applications etc. To access this information, just go to http://www.optomcas.org. On the left sidebar there are links to everything you need to know. If you're interested in learning more about the interview process, I would start at the career center at whichever university your friend is attending. Most schools will hold mock interviews or at least talk with you about what is required/expected. In general though, most information that applies to medical programs like MD's or DO's will apply to optometry as well. As far as a paper book that has all of this information, I don't know of one. The information is sort of spread out all over the internet. I would start with Kaplan.com, OptomCas.org, and the websites to all of the schools your friend is interested in.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot! I'll refer him over to those sites. It really does seem like there are no "How to get into Optometry school" books... One of you guys should write one, you'd make a ton of money!
