Optometry and Calculus

Hello Fellow students and doctors,

What is the relationship between optometry and calculus. I notice all of the schools require calculus as a prerequisite. I imagine it is something that is used a little in school, but in a practicing environment, is it something that is used? Where does it come into play in the scheme of things?
