Optometry Schools and Laptops

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I've never heard of opt schools giving laptops to their students, but you probably can get a discount through the school. Most likely a dell. But I would just factor another grand to your tuitions and living cost for a laptop. i have heard of dental schools making you buy laptops through them even if you have one already and they add it to your tuition.

I've never heard of a school giving you a laptop. If they did, they would more than likely add the cost of it to your tuition, so it wouldn't be free anyways.

As the above poster mentioned, you can usually get decent discounts on your laptop if you purchase it through the school's contacts. (Usually Dell).

I know a laptop is required at Pacific, not sure about other schools... anybody?

at least at scco you really dont need a laptop... if you got by in undergrad w/o one its not any different now

macs rock=). You can get a discount (I think 10%?) off a macbook for being a college student.

I'm a first year student, and only a couple people use laptops during lectures. We get printed notes, and just write out extra information the professors talk about onto them. We also have the choice to pay for note services.
