Hey! Actually, Yes. If you're from (or live near Florida), The Florida Optometric Association hosts annual Conventions during the summer. Within this time, they host a "Pre-Optometry Day" session for students interested in the Optometry Profession. It's actually reaaaaallly awesome. They have speakers from FOA, Optometry students from NSU, admissions of NSU, etc to come in and speak. It really is VERY informative and beneficial.

This year it will be on July 24th in Orlando (10AM-5 PM). PM me if you have any questions about it :highfive:

That sounds interesting and exciting. Actually I'm from LA. Is there any like that in LA?

Contact Dr. Munroe at SCCO. She's VERY helpful and will probably know of some meetings 🙂

Here's a link for the local optometric societies throughout Calif:

I would contact the president of each optometric society that you're interested in attending. If you do get a chance to attend a meeting, then expect to listen to a 90 minute continuing education (CE) lecture either from an OD or OMD while enjoying a free dinner.

How about NYC?

Do you know how to register for the pre-optometry day? Thanks!

I paid $30 for my dinner. =/ good lecture on glaucoma though.

http://florida.aoa.org/x14010.xml That's the website for the overall convention. On Facebook, if you search Pre-Optometry Day 2010 it'll come up with the event and schedule of events. Just RSVP and you're good! At least 2 of us are going so far from the SDN forums =) I got most of my questions answered by Browneyes2011.

Yeah, just let me know if you have any questions. I've been last year and I am really familiar with NSU.

I am part of the group on facebook so is that all I have to do? I was expecting to have to pay a registration fee or something like that. Thanks for the help!
