Will PCC oxidize an aldehyde to a carboxylic acid if u start out with aldehyde? Thanks so much!

Tollen's Reagent = aldehyde to carboxylic acid

It should not. KMnO4 or CrO3 will.

Very good Q, I remember seeing that it would, ie ROH+PCC --> RCOH + PCC --> RCOOH, but not sure.

CANNOT oxidize to carboxylic acid!!! remember from orgo class 100%!!!
primary alcohol to aldehyde (using PCC)
ester to aldehyde (using Dibal-H in hexane)
