Hi, in order to become an OMFS consultant in the UK you will need a BDS as well as an MBBS. You can go up to staff grade position without going to med school but all consultants are required to go through med school. Normally what UK students do is a year or two of house jobs in the hospital (max fax SHO) after BDS and then apply to med school. After med school they complete their F1 and F2 years and then go on with their Mac Fax training. It's a very long road but rewarding nonetheless.

So how many years I would have to put in for med school I have heard it's only 2 years as not full five years after BDS

Some places offer a 3 year course and some 4 in the UK. However it's very competitive and most people only get into the full 5 year course in the UK. But it doesn't matter how many years you complete as long as you have an mbbs under your belt. The shortest mbbs course I know of is 3 years and I been told it's in Leeds but not sure about that...
