Hi all,

Just looking for some recs from people who have gone through the same. I have my oral exam in September. My last time actually giving anesthesia was end of residency [emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]] years ago. Now part of a busy pain practice. I have no idea where to even begin and feel like I don’t remember anything at all. Really don’t wanna have to take this exam again!

Agree- ubp all the way. If you can’t practice with a partner, practice in front of the mirror. Every single question on my oral exam was covered in one form or another in ubp.

Idk i definitely had a bunch of random specific questions not covered in ubp.

I did Ho as well and that would be my recommendation for your situation.

Yes it’s expensive and yes it’s overkill. But if your goal is similar to mine which was do everything possible to take this stupid thing only once then that is your best bet. And do the mock exams with them. Except I skipped the ones with Ho himself because I don’t need that kind of negativity in my life.

Yea his aggressive style was not my cup of tea. I did both as well.

Here’s a funny anecdote

I signed up for the Ho course during my pain fellowship. After a mock oral session, the anesthesiologist asked me if I was doing Pain, which surprised me. I asked her how she knew (thinking I must have flubbed the intellectual stuff). She said pain doctors always had a smoother answer delivery.

So if you went into Pain and have a bit of the snake oil in your blood, you’ll do fine 😂😂😂

I did Just Oral Boards during my pain fellowship. I thought their examiners were great, quite tough and just like the real deal; with the exception of one nice laid back lady....probably peds, those people tend to be chill(er) personalities.
