i recently gave a 10 minute powerpoint presentation while on an away rotation. this presentation was given to all residents and faculty. i wasn't planning to include this on my CV, but one of the faculty members told me to put it on there. what do you guys think? and if i do put it on my CV, how should i list it? it wasn't a grand rounds or conference, per se, just time set aside for the student presentations.

Are you suppose to bring a hard copy of your CV on interviews, or is the ERAS CV, that the PD's already have, sufficient if you have nothing new to add since you submitted your ERAS application, as is in my case?

Keep a copy or 3 with you. Yes, your interviewers should have a copy of your ERAS CV but bad things happen and sometimes they don't. I ended up using 3 or 4 of them throughout the course of the interview season. Wouldn't have been the end of the world if I hadn't had one but it makes you look prepared which is good.

Unless you were presenting personal research, I would favor no.

I wouldn't put it on your CV even if it was your research or grand rounds or something like this. Unless it was an official presentation competitively selected for an official meeting, I feel this is resume padding. A grand rounds presentation or a presentation at a meeting that's not competitively selected may warrant an ERAS mention in the experience section if you feel it adds to your app, but I don't think it's appropriate for a CV. Just my opinion though 🙂

I think if you presented at a grand rounds, you could probably include it (for several reasons). 1) I've never seen a student be the presenter at a grand rounds. 2) Grand round presentations are usually ~1hr. 3) Grand round speakers are usually specially selected.

Otherwise, I agree, I don't think presentations for a rotation merit including in ERAS. Most of them are of the 5-15 "threw something together in an hour or two the night before" category. Even my 30minuter for my AI doesn't feel right to put in ERAS, so I didn't include it.

i wouldn't include it. i have given several 15 minute presentations (at ground rounds and on an away rotatin) and have never thought to include them on my CV. if it is your original research and you don't have any publications on it then maybe, but even that is questionable...

Yeah dude, definitely not. Basically every rotation we have been required to give a presentation, with a few quite extensive with powerpoints. The only presentation I think worthy of CV are posters/conferences personally.
