what do you guys think? I know article is from 2005 but supposedly phase three trials just came out and displayed "non-inferiority".

I don't know if its going to be a block buster or a "game changer" so to speak but I could see it grabbing like 10% of market share..

p.s. congrats to everyone who matched.. and to those who didn't stay strong and keep on trucking it will work out in the end.

Got to be better than the joke that was Exubera.

If filling your lungs with microscopic glass beads is someone's great idea for improving drug delivery - they shouldn't be in any aspect of the health care field.

Personality, Exubera sucked even before it went out. Their studies compared their insulin product to oral anti glycemia products and barely came out ahead. The only study that they did comparing it to actual insulin was in pediatric population for type 1 DM population.

Well, link up the phase III "pivotal" trials as opposed to 4-year old media hype articles....

I've known multiple type I diabetics. SQ Insulin just isn't that big of a deal - why are drug companies trying to pretend it is?

It's not the type I's they want. They have been dealing with it their whole life, know what works and are hesitant to change. It's the type II's that are putting off insulin even when they are maxed on metformin, sulf-, and tzd's; still poorly controlled; and refuse to take a shot. It's like don't loose your foot, spray this insulin in your mouth

Which brings up one of the biggest jokes of the drug approval process, you only have to prove it is better than placebo. There are so many other criteria we should be measuring new drugs against - maybe if it is changed enough, pharmacy formularies can actually stop growing and some of the "me too" crap will slowly be replaced by stuff that is actually worth dispensing.
