Hey everybody. Summer session II, I was planning on taking ORG Chem 2 and Physics 1. But, on top of that, I'm taking the July 20th PCAT, so I'd like to study for it too since it's soon. Is it a bad idea to take ORG 2 and Physics 1 and study for it? Seems like way too much. Should I just take ORG 2 and study for the PCAT (even that in itself is a lot too)...but I've got to take at least one of the classes...

I really want to do both since I prefer summer sessions compared with regular semesters but then again the PCAT exam is here, and on top of that, ORG 2 with Physics 1 is a heck of a lot of work.

Your suggestions?

IMO, YES!! Org 2 in a 4-5 week summer session is intense anyway (what, maybe lab every day?). It can be done, but it's certainly going to require a huge time commitment. Physics 1 is probably easier (depending on school/prof) but still has a significant amount or required work as well as the lab. It may be possible to do both together, but I think you will have virtually no time to succeed in them AND study for the PCAT. My opinion...take org2 because it will help some with the PCAT and wait on physics because it won't help as much. Good luck!

Thanks, I decided to do just Pre-Cal and Physics 1 since I'm retaking Pre-cal and I'll still study for the PCAT. Your advice is appreciated.

If you pay attention well in Organic 2, the stuff you learn in class should help you on the organic questions of Chem on the PCAT.

As for Physics 1, it would depend on if it's calc-based or not calc-based. If it's calc-based, some of it may help you with the calculus questions on the Quant section of the PCAT.

If you feel good about the Bio sections, then the remaining sections will just take practice. Even if you take Organic and Physics in the same session, you'll still have some time to do other stuff. In that time, you could read and write for fun to get some practice to do it faster until the date of your PCAT. The Bio sections would probably need only review if you have taken enough Bio classes already.
