I am just feeling particularly annoyed with Organic right now. I have an 86% right now with (1) more test and a final worth 20% left to go. I just cant seem to perfect Organic - I get it well enough - but i will drop a movement arrow here - or use the incorrect reagent during retrosynthesis. I just want this semester to be over with... Sigh... 😕

Anyone else disenchanted with Organic - feel free to post...

Repetition is key in ochem I think. Just keep re-writing mechanisms and reagents etc...you will get it sooner or later. I dont know, that my two cents and it seemed to work for me. When you draw arrows, just remember that is where the electrons are going. If it makes sense in the picture, then go with it.

prayer works.

my mom took it and she said the key is writing the reations and such over and over.

Organic is no joke! I found that putting all the mechanisms down on flashcards and look at them over and over again really helped. Good luck!

Yes it does.

Don't worry yourself sick over it, though. Do the best you can and let it go (somthing hard for people used to making A's to do, I know)

I got a B in OrgI and a C in OrgII and I got into 5 good schools. Don't sweat it just hang in there.

I think a good teacher makes all the difference. Too bad that such an interesting subject is so often taught by researchers who don't give a damn about teaching.

Don't worry! You'll be fine. I think an 86% is awesome for ochem.

I found practice problems helpful...and the flash cards too.

I also agree with the previous poster, sometimes it's the prof.

Good luck! 🙂

Thanks for the posts - I am just going to try to finish strong. I dont want to look at the numbers at each scoring event - He just cut out a lab to make up for lost lecture time - I nearly lost it. I needed those 20 points!!!! crazy I know... Oh well, chalk it up to a rough semester. Time to study A&P - gotta love summer

Yep, I'm hating it too.
I got a B+ for Orgo I last session (a week ago lol) but feel like I should've failed. Most of our class is like HUH? when the prof explains something....but prof is very flaky and NOT very good. I'm starting to worry about pharm school if this is stressing me out.
Oh well, we can only do the best we can! Good luck to you too. I still have...4.5 weeks left. :barf:

Organic is a pain, but you just have to suck it up and do it…..I was struggling with organic an someone in a previous forum suggested getting a white erase board and doing all the practice problems over and over and over and over…same with mechanisms and whatnot…I was in a tight spot at the end of last semester and I took this suggestion. I ended up getting an A on the exam that was so very vital to my grade :0)
