I need help with one problem for my orgo hw:

4-methyl-1,3-pentadiene --(Reacts with HBr----> Kinetic product?

I'm sorry but i don't believe in giving you the answer. That doesn't teach you anything. I will however give you a few helpful hints.

1- Kinetic product is going to be the product that is created thefastest as opposed to the thermodynamic product which is the most stable.

2- if you think about HBR as a molecule what will it do to a compound with a double bond.... will it contribute an 'H' or a 'BR'.... ??

3- compound most commonly react in the area of a double bond. The most stable is always where there are more constituents on the carbon (the most branches off it).

good luck! hope it helped.
