Organic chemistry as a second language--by David R. Klein
I am definitely a chemistry dumb, but I can still get a good grade, this book helps
This book has both Vol. 1 and 2, which helps you along both organic 1 and 2 semester!!
but according to your question here, acidic and basic of a compound can be analyze through a "rule" -ARIO
A--Atom
R--resonance
I--inductive effect
O--orbital
resonance is the availability of moving the electrons around, (I hope you know how to move them around...)
The more resonance form a compound can have, the more stable the compound is, thus more acidic the compound is.
As we move the electrons around, we would like the negative charges land on an atom that has a higher electronegativity. Therefore, a resonance that can have a negative charge passed to the Oxygen is more acidic than the negative charge land on the carbon.
While the inductive effect is about the electronegativity, the oxygen pulling more eletrondensity to itself than the carbon...
(for other parts, get the book and read, atom size and sp orbitals are also influencing factors)
In summary, more stable--> more acidic; less stable--> more basic
If I have concept mistakes, please correct me...
