Two students were out late the night before their Organic Chemistry test. They never got a chance to study since they were up all night partying. Obviously, they were totally unprepared. So, they decided to skip the class and not take the test. Both students devised an excuse so that their professor would allow them to take the test on a later date. They told the teacher that they were unable to make it because their car had a flat tire on their way to school. The teacher agreed for them to take the test on a later date. That day of the test, the students were pretty confident that they were going to do well since they had some time to study. The teacher gave the student the test. With their surprise, the test only consisted 2 questions. The first question was for 5 points which asked to draw the mechanism for the Wittig reaction. The second question was for 95 points. What do you think was the second question?

describe the incident of the flat tire.

which (of the four) tires was flat?

i remember this model story from a cartoon. "this is a true story, it happened to a friend of a friend of mine..."

Awesome. I would have at least gone over that right before the test.

I'd say the teacher asks what caused the flat tire.

This story is true and originated with Dr. James Bonk, the legendary general chem professor at Duke University.
