Hey guys,

I'm a freshman in college in a combined med program and because of my AP credit from high school I've managed land myself in organic chemistry my first year in college...Basically, I was wondering if you could share your insights as to what helped you to study and prepare for the course/exams...I'm pretty freaked out seeing how I haven't taken chemistry in over a year.

Thanks!

Don't worry about it being so long since you took gen. chem. Although the concepts of orgo are based on those you learned before, very few of them come up. The majority of the information is new and unique, so that is what you really need to worry about. As a chemistry major I assure you the material itself is not difficult, it is just a lot of stuff to memorize. So, if you devote the time, I am sure you will do fine. The only potentially difficult aspect of orgo is the ability to visualize the bonds when dealing with isomers, rotamers, etc. The best way to get good at this is to buy a model kit. Good luck.
