at our school, it is not required for bio majors to take organic chem lab during the third quarter of organic chemistry. i am done with 2 quarters of organic chemistry, but i don't know if i should take that 3rd quarter or lab, since i don't know if dental schools require it. how much o-chem lab do dental schools require? any input would be appreciated.

Many schools require 1 academic year or 3 quarters of organic chem with lab so I suggest that you take it. I will also help you with your DAT preparation as well!

However, you should contact the dental schools or go to respective schools' website to get more specific requirements.

Tufts is an oddity. They only require 1 semester of organic chem but also 1 semester of Biochem.

Seems to me you're from UCI. I was from UCI too. I took the third quarter o-chem lab and it was quite a fun lab. It is true that you should check with respective schools by visiting their website or calling the admissions office in person. That way, if you hate o-chem you won't have to take it and waste your time. Personally, I liked third quarter o-chem lab the best...better experiments and generally the TAs are a lot better.

Good luck,
