So iv read through organic section in kaplan and im starting to do destroyer. I feel like im struggling with it. If i start memorizing the reactions in destroyer will i be fine? Its been a while since iv take it....should i just start memorizing? whats the best plan of attack for o chem.

It's been a while since I've taken ochem also. What I did was I made a note card for every reaction in the roadmaps section. If you memorize those reactions (plus a few others like diels alder etc.) the destroyer questions will become much easier. Don't just memorize reactions though, you have to know other important stuff like stereochemistry, boiling points, acidity etc.

But if you get destroyer down, you should be good on the DAT in orgo? i think im going to do that....memorize mostly whats in destroyer and kaplan and go from there.

Im studying right now for oragnic and im workin on Kaplan and some orgo books to read and understand the material then Im gonna memorize the road maps in destroyer's solution (very importan to know it by heart) and do the problems and the extra tests i have in the end. I think this is a good strategy to appraoche organic. Destroyer is very helpful but it does not contain all the material that u hv to study for.

I would say start OCHEM study by first looking answer to question 138, i think it was, which has 6 page list of all organic reactions. and then start destroyer questions and you will be fine, and just implying general concepts of OChem to question and thats all you need.

Destroyer is awesome for Ochem, on the basis of past DATs, but you cannot expect DATs not to change. Destroyer is great, and if you have it memorized you'll do well on orgo - but if you want to do really well, and have your butt covered for unexpected new stuff, you need to review orgo thoroughly from a textbook.
