I understand that sometimes knowing the mechanisms is helpful in solving synthesis problems, but it's overwhelming as it is to be able to recall reactants/products/catalysts/conditions, so how crucial is it to memorize mechanisms of reactions (especially more complex ones like aldol condensation, Wittig reaction, Michael addition etc,)?? Thanks

I would say just look over the mechanisms in your notes and see if you understand what's going on. This will be enough. Don't try to memorize them [Actually, if you understand them, then you already have them in your mind]
