My school combines both Orgo 1 and 2 labs into one semester. At the local junior college they are separate classes. I am wondering if it is ok to take those labs over at the local 4 year junior college. Will this hurt my chances fro admission to medical school?:scared:

My reasons why I would like to take the labs at that school:
I have serious conflicts with getting other prerequisites during the times that orgo lab is held at my school. Taking orgo lab next semster would mean postponing other classes.
I can take more classes if I take the lab over there. These classes build upon each other and I am looking at applying next year. If I push these classes back I am worried that I will not have everything for my majors completed in time.
Lastly, it is much less expensive to take it over at the junior college. I will not have any loans over the summer. If I could take a less expensive class it would be very nice.

I am concerned it will prevent me from getting in if I take these labs. They are just labs though and all of my other classes have been done at a four year university. My GPA is strong, science GPA is strong. Any opinions?:xf:

I don't know the definite answer to this, but I think if there's any way you can rearrange your schedule to keep taking classes at the 4-year you're at, then you should go for that. This would be just for the sake of having to explain less to adcoms later (ie convincing them that you took the course there because of scheduling and financial issues, instead of wanting to take an easier course). If you're doing well in science classes, I'm sure you'll be able to handle it! Hopefully another poster can weigh in on how much this matters to adcoms, as I'm really not sure.

I absolutely agree with what you are saying, however, there is no rearranging for summer or fall. Mmany of these classes are held sequentially. for instance I need these orgo labs for biochem 1, and biochem 1 to get into biochem 2. I already have A&P 1 but A&P 2 is held during summer but not fall. So if I don't get it in summer then it will have to be delayed until spring and all of this will put off some of the upper level classes I need to graduate.

I have no idea why there are so many conflicts. I have not had this situation before. The junior college idea is the only one I can think of at this point. That or delay things by a year.
