hey guys im taking orgo in the summer, and its my only class, what would dental schools think about this?
will they care if i take orgo as my only class in the summer even if i get a A?
so far iv only had 1 semester where i took 2 sciences, the other classes were all Gen eds, in the fall im taking orgo 2 and cell bio, then im gona spread out my sciences again
will this hurt my application? or does it not make a difference? thanks!

I told my #1 choice school that I took it in the summer...their reaction was WOW! It depends on which school. Honestly, I wouldn't put down taking such a hard class taken over the summer. I took it last summer with the lab, in 8 weeks, with children and what not. Got B+ in both....and got a 93 in the ACS final 👍

Aren't we going to study massive amounts of information in dental school? And expected to digested it and do well in exams????

My thinking is why not develop the skills of studying at a fast pace now--to be even more ready in dental school? Just my 2 cents....of course one has to be very realistic and if you have a good prof, an organized schedule, and that you will make the commitment....go for it.

Ask classmates that have taken the class with the same prof about their experience. Make sure you talk with the 4.0 and 3.0 GPA students.....you'll get an interesting mix of opinions!

Good luck!

Agreed.

I always find it interesting that one student who gets an A rates a teacher highly on their teacher/class evaluation sheet while a student who gets a B rates the teacher/class average to poor.

thanks allot!
i think that ill be able to manage it, my goals for this summer are to find a job/ volunteering opportunity at a dental clinic, and to ace orgo and orgo lab...
the only thing im really worried about though is if it will look bad if all my sciences are separated, like only 1 per semester, i heard this will look bad because it shows that "u cant handle real dental school classes"?

I'm doing the same thing. 1 science class, 2/3 upper div's, and some electives each semester...

from what I've been told the schedule, rigor, and unit load are considered when your application is reviewed. But if you perform well in all the classes and do well on the DAT it will make up for the easy schedule.
