orgo lab? URGENT!!!

help!! i can't decide if i should drop my orgo lab or not. for those of you who have taken the MCAT or are further along in their studying than i am: is orgo lab necessary for MCAT success? will i learn everything i need to know in lecture alone?

p.s.: i'm not worrying about med school course requirements per se. long story.

PLEASE ADVISE ASAP!!!

if you know the material in lecture well enough, you'll be fine.. the lab only serves to cement the concepts in lecture..

I would say it's not going to make much of a difference... although I think there was one question on the August MCAT that asked about the best method to separate two compounds based on some of their properties... I remember choosing distillation... so I guess they had a large bp difference.

Anywho... it was just one question... when it comes down to it, maybe you can just get a syllabus from someone and review the general principles of some methods.

But DO sign up for it eventually! Or you'll be like me... I didn't take all my orgo or physics labs before I graduated... now I'm stuck taking the labs AND the lectures all over again because community colleges in my area only offer them jointly. And I was hoping to coast happily from here 'til next fall-- ha!

At my school, NMR and IR spectroscopy was taught in lab, not in lecture. As it turns out, I didn't really need any of it for the exam, but I believe it's on the syllabus.

If pre-reqresuite isn't a concern than don't worry about it. Everything you will need to know is in the lecture material and every review book on the market has all the suggested MCAT topics covered in depth. Best of Luck.
