This might be overkill, but is it important to recognize the solvents used in the reagents used in an organic reaction? For example, in producing an alkyl halide from an alkene one needs to add HX in ether. Is it important to remember the ether??

I'm memorizing them. I mean to me, all the reactions look the same. Knowing the solvents help with the differentiation process.
