hey all. so this might seem like a silly issue, but im feeling kind of lost right now. i already took the DAT and got a 19 on the orgo section, but I'm taking it again and aiming for a 20+. However, I just started going through destroyer, and about 15 questions in, I realized I forgot everything. What is the best way to re-study for the orgo section? should i just keep going through destroyer?

Notes!

This is when all the good note taking comes in handy. If not that, then take out a Textbook and i would review the subjects or portions you've forgotten.

I used Examkrackers 1001 questions in Ochem, desroyer, ochem odyssey (way way overkill) and made my own note off kaplan section in the white book. Also bought the science aide reaction tables. It go me a 29 , pm me if you have any questions.

yea, i think i'm going to do some Kaplan and then maybe do destroyer. it honestly seems like I don't know anything when i'm doing it. also, i hear the roadmaps are really good. should i just focus on those and not the problems?

orgo is the easiest section for me, partly because i took it last year..
you have to know your reactions, and if you know the mechanisms it makes it much easier..
also something interesting..i think orgo is the easiest section to make a stupid error, so for my first 2 topscores i got 19's in each..this time i did this section first and what do you know i got a 30 today!

wow, that's incredible! have you been using destroyer? and how do you go about memorizing the reactions. i feel like i know them, but come test time, i can't recall anything 😡

so its kind of funny for me because my main problems in the orgo practice so far were everything but the rxns..when i went through destroyer all the rxn questions were simple for me..it was more the questions about properties of molecules and other stuff that got me..like what molecule gives a positive iodoform test?!

basically i know the rxns cold from my orgo class, and the reason was because i knew and understood all the mechanisms..if youre having trouble and you have the time, i would go threw mcmurry and orgo as a second language part 1 and 2..however this could take a long time and might not be worth it since i think on the DAT only half or even less than that are questions on rxns..
