Hi there. I am a practicing dentist who is really interested in ortho. I would like to ask practicing orthos, or residency members which textbooks do you recommended to read especially if specializing is my end goal?

I recently signed up for the POS course (Progressive Orthodontic Seminars) which I start next month. I also went through “Orthodontics, Current Principles and Techniques 6th ed” by Graber” and really enjoyed it. I read Proffit back in DS.
Would anyone recommend these? Thank you in advance.

why are you taking all these courses and reading all these books when your goal is to enter residency?

Well, I genuinely enjoy ortho and I figured I might as well prepare myself if I possibly get in.

Mind if ask how many cases you have treated? Are you a GP owner? Does your office have a ceph?

I haven’t treated any cases. Which is why I enrolled in a 2 year course and started reading up on ortho literature. I am a GP with my own office.

There is a really big need for ortho where I live which is in Sweden (I was raised in Canada). We don’t have a ceph in the office but we can refer to a clinic that has one (government clinic) 500 m down the street that doesn’t do ortho due to a lack of specialists....

The need for ortho specialists is so large here that our local municipality is forced to refer ortho patients to Norway and pays them for treatment.
