My medical school does have any orthopedic research, and I was wondering what would be your advice on a relative alternative.

We have rheumatology research, general surgery research, and CT surgery research.

Does your school have orthopaedic surgeons? I'm sure someone has a paper they have been meaning to write up. Research doesn't have to be "bench" research. You may be able to find an orthopod with an interesting and "doable" project for you.
