Does anyone know or have a link to the nationally ranked Osteopathic medical schools in the research category??

I'm pretty sure the top of the list would be UNTHSC-TCOM. This last year they did 25Million in research, and they are the first and only school to recieve NIH funding for uniquely osteopathic research.

that would be awsome TCOM is my number one choice and I was thinking based on what I was reading on the website that they had a good research program. I have an interview at TCOM this tuesday are there any pointers other than reading the interview feedback, personal statement, website, and mock interviews that you can give me? I'm looking for some more great aspects of TCOM that I can become more aware of.

Thanks

Are you interested in pursuing research?

Either way TCOM and UMDNJ-SOM are both schools I applied to and I feel like getting into either would be great

I have done research over the past 4 years, I'm not sure if I want to continue to pursue it yet but I want to have the option and know its a good program just in case I do

Well, even if you went to a school without research you can still do research somewhere else (e.g. NIH, CDC, other med schools) between M1 and M2 anyway.

I am pretty sure MY school is number 1!!!!!!!!!! Not UMDNJ OR TCOM...of course I MIGHT have had a few drinks and not in osteopathic school...that is my deal for the worthless drunk entry of the night. Why would someone go to sdn hammered before bed? Because they are a sad sad man that is why.

Are any of your school doing Neuro research? I'm trying to find a place to do research this next summer, and there is no neuro at KCUMB.

I am pretty sure UMDNJ-SOM is #1 of Osteo schools in NIH funding, not TCOM

Isn't UMDNJ-SOM going through some type of problem now with the NIH funding? I heard the pres and several other higher ups have resigned over this - apparently over misapplication of funds (???). It's still a great school though.

No, the dean "resigned" last year because he did something with his research to win some bonus, among other things. I have not heard of this affecting the NIH funding at the school or anything like that, there is a hell of a lot of research at UMDNJ across the three medical schools for funding to be shut down.

I have heard rumors of our schools trying to open a Neurosurgery residency, which of course would bring more neuro research here. There is a huge shortage of Neurosurgeons in this area. I am not sure of any specific projects in neuro but you should definitely give the department a call and find out.

I think UMDNJSOM has more NIH funding overall but I think TCOM is indeed the top school for OMM oriented research. Followed closely by PCOM, UMDNJ and NYCOM.
