I am interviewing for DO schools and would like to know more about OMM- specifically, if there are OMM techniques used in ob/gyn practice. Any info as to the philosophy or any examples are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There are many useful manipulative techniques used. The one I use in OB postpartum is to reset the pubic bones which because of relaxin can reset improperly postpartum. Another technique using the kirkville crunch can be use to reset L4/L5 which because of lordosis can cause vertebral malaignment to occur.

this is probably the first and last post I'll ever have in this forum.....but this title caught my eye....

While at the Rehab Institute of Chicago this summer, I heard a lecture by one of the PM&R docs (an MD) who had an entire practice specializing in the rehab of female pelvic dysfunction and pregrancy. All of the techniques that were being used by the PT's under her were extremely similar to the ones I have learned in DO school for innominate (pelvic bones), sacral and pelvic floor/diaphragm disfunctions. I could definitely see that being very applicable to Ob-Gyn. Hope that helps
