Heyy everyone, I've been around SDN for awhile but this is the first time I've posted. My main goal is ultimately to apply to osteopathic medical school. I've taken the year off after graduating from undergrad (I'm in the process of completing some hardcore research in hopes that this will give my application the edge I need to be considered for admission into a professional program) and I just submitted my application for post-bac to PCOM in Philly (for the fall '07 semester). While this program is my first choice, I have just been informed that they will not mail out acceptance letters until spring!! I am wondering if anyone can give me suggestions for other post-bac programs to apply to that are geared toward those hoping to matriculate into osteopathic medical school. Thanks!!🙂

p.s.~any suggestions of schools in/around the Philly area (ex: UMDNJ) would also be appreciated!!

actually, you probably have nothing to worry about getting into the PCOM Program. Actually, PCOM's program is a bit different from the rest. PCOM's is a graduate program in Biomedical sciences where if you wish, you could go on to a master's track. If you don't wish to do the second year, you can matriculate into med school with a certificate in Biomed. Sciences. As long as you keep your GPA, semi-decent (i.e. No C's) you are guaranteed an interview, and as i hear it, you have a decent chance of matriculating in. It is NOT a guaranteed acceptance because you interview so late (end of february/early march). Last year's Biomedical class mostly got wait-listed and then finally got in throughout the summer. I believe they said all but one student.

UMDNJ-SOM also has a program like this, however, i believe you have to complete your master's. LECOM-ERIE has a true Post-Bacc program where you are guaranteed an interview after that one year. This will and has no chance to leading to a masters.

Hope that helps!

You can PM me if you have any other questions!
