I've been looking up the median salaries for osteopathic surgeons from many sites, and the numbers have been across the board. Can someone give me a median range of the starting salary of an osteopathic surgeon?

Osteopathic refers to the degree delivered at the completion of an osteopathic medicine program. You become a surgeon through residency. The reason you saw varying earnings is because different fields of surgery pay different amounts of money.

Like Bac said ... the degree doesn't have any say on your salary ... that has to do with residency. What type of surgeon?? General, Ortho, ENT, PRS, Uro, Neuro??? All different salaries. Google physician salaries.

Truth. DO surgeons make the same. Your degree has no bearing on your salary.

I assume you're talking about after a DO has completed his or her mandatory five years of work on a volunteer basis.

Just curious, where do you get that logic? There is absolutely no difference in salary between MD and DO orthopods. I wouldn't have that mindset so early on in your career either. You get paid based on the location, how busy the practice is, what type of orthopedic specialty you are in, and if you're going into academics.

\Well, I was planning to start making money after graduation, but then I remembered that I wasn't smart enough to be an MD and decided to go to a DO school, and I remembered that for the first 3 years out of school I have to pay a hospital to let me work there!
