Hey anyone else applying to OSU? I just checked the status of my application and it said incomplete. I am wondering if I am missing something (don't think so but who knows) or if they just haven't received everything yet.

Members don't see this ad.

is this Oregon State, or Ohio State?

My status is listed as incomplete too-- If you click there to see "status of required documents" it lists all the transcripts they've recieved. Two of mine say complete, while one says "initiated" so maybe your application isn't complete until they've reviewed everything?

Mine says that my application is currently in the process of being evaluated, and it says that my transcripts are complete. Hmmmm

Mine said incomplete until they connected my transcripts to my application. Now it says Evaluation under Status. Click "More Information..." box, then the "Show Status..."box on the next page. It should say what is missing. I had a transcript waived previously and sent them a quick email to remind them. They changed the status of that one and eventually connected my other one to my application. It took them a few days to get back with me, but I am sure they are bombarded with things to do. I also have an "A" last name which may be why mine is done. (Assuming they file transcripts alphabetically when they receive them.)

I just looked at my page again and noticed it also says: "Your application is currently in the process of being evaluated." That makes me nervous! :scared:

Mine just says "Evaluation" as the status. I have no clue what that means!

where are you guys seeing your statuses? Through an email? I can't find a link on their webpage

Evaluation means that they're still looking over your materials. Ah, it seems like just yesterday that I was in that position, freaking out. Good luck! Hope to see you all next year! 👍

Wait, who are you? I thought I knew all the SDN people from our class?

I got an email from them explaining that all my materials were complete and that I would hear from them in November about an interview (if I get one). I'm in-state though. My status says "being evaluated"

Did you all receive confirmation emails from Ohio State stating they had received your application, etc?

I got an email saying they received the supplemental when I submitted it, but nothing else. I had to login with my the ID they gave me last year.. so confusing!!

Anyway, mine says incomplete and all my transcripts are "initiated."

I'm IS too.

I think you guys just submitted your supplemental, right? I'm sure that it takes a while before everything is updated online. But, if you have any questions about your application having arrived (or anything in general), just call the school. They are very friendly and helpful!

Good luck everyone; I know what you're going through. 😉

If you have any questions feel free to PM me!

ahh no wonder i didn't get an email after i submitted my supplemental... i entered the wrong email address. i am sooo stupid. anyone know what to do? call on monday i guess?!

my letters of recommendation are "initiated"
my status says "AcadReview"...is that any different than your "being evaluated"?

I think that's a good sign! I think "Acad. Review" is one step after "evaluation"!

Uhm, how are ya'll all logging in? My supp app page says evaluated, payed, etc but whenever I try to login in Future students page, it says my name isn't found? Are ya'll using the same info from the supp app page or what?

The email I recieved had a OSU ID and a password that I needed to log in the first time--using my email didn't work at first. Once you log in, you can change the password, then use your email to access the page.
Try logging in with the info they sent you.

Hm...I haven't received any additional e-mails from them. All I have received is the confirmation that my supplemental was completed and the supp page says completed, payed, submitted, and confirmed.

Guess I get to call them Monday.

really!!!!!! How do you know what the statuses mean? Maybe it is b/c I am from CA and they are figuring out whether my classes work for prereques. I so badly want to go to OSU or CSU over Davis. Is that crazy? I have heard some not great things about Davis grad for the past few years, and the town is so boring, and only an hour from where I have lived 25 years of my life. omg this is all so exciting, I might just die if I don't figure out some way to forget about it for at least a month.

Mine says AcadReview as well. It means "Your application has been referred to the College of Veterinary Medicine for admissions consideration."

Good luck all 🙂

This is a link to another blog discussing OSU's application status:

http://www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/109497-who-got-ohio-2.html

Different program, same system.

It states the order is: eva-acadreview-referred-admit-offer...

And supposedly the statement stays the same from acadreview to referred.

On this other string, someone reports that the office told them referred means that you are in, but they are dealing with your financial aid status, or that the program accepted you but you have been referred to the university to make sure you technically can be admitted (not sure if this applies to the vet school exactly)

http://www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/108756-news-ohio-state-3.html

AcadReview means they haven't made a decision, but that doesn't mean you didn't get in on the first round (not sure if that applies to the vet school)

Evaluation: checking your admissions items complete
AcadReview: calculating your gpa

this is from a powerpoint from OSU apparently explaining the system to employees:

Has anyone else who applied not received their second e-mail? Starting to get a whee bit worried now. I know I sent in everything, but maybe something didn't get there.

Mine was in my junk. If you are talking about the one with log in information.

Are you talking about Ohio? I haven't gotten a second email. My status is "AcadReview."

what do you guys mean by 2nd email

yeah i didn't get a second email either...I did get a letter though informing me that due to uncertainty they switched me to out-of-state status (whaaat!!) :barf: ....apparently because my current address did not match my permanent OH address (I moved here to begin an MPH program at OSU this fall)...Amber Cassell had told me I could list myself in-state, bc as of Autumn 2010 I will be considered IS for tuition purposes...now I have to go to the registrar and see what I can officially be listed as for the application.:scared:

Anywho, my application says incomplete too (GRE scores and transcripts)...which this summer they said they would use my records from last cycle and I didn't need to send new ones (gotta clear that up now too!)...

I see some 2013er's made comments...how is the year going for you guys? Heh, I have heard something about the class being possessive over seats...what's up with that?😛 And...apparently you guys don't like the MPH-Vet Public Health kids....what's really up with that?! 😀

what do you guys mean by 2nd email

I got an email saying that "
We have received your on-line supplemental application for admission to The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Thank you for your interest in Ohio State and our veterinary college, the third oldest of the existing veterinary medical colleges in the United States."

Then, this past Wednesday I recieved a second that said "
Thank you for your recent application to The Ohio State University.
Please review your personal data and check the status of your application by visiting the Professional Admissions Office website at http://appstatus.osu.edu. If you find inaccuracies, please notify us immediately so that we may correct our records. In addition, it is your responsibility to inform our office of any changes that occur in the future..." At the bottom of the email, it had the log in info for the page.
That's what I meant by second email-sorry for any confusion.

Heh, I have heard something about the class being possessive over seats...what's up with that?😛
Apparently every class is possessive over seats. Trust me, we did not invent this!

aww poo. i hate that kind of thing. i always end up being shafted. if i go to class super early to get the good seats i'll feel bad, and since i'm not the competitive/confrontational type, if i don't do that i'll get the bad seats... and that just feels crummy. i just want like a random drawing or something of seats in the beginning of the semester... boo

I did get the second email then.

So I just realized that I only have 4 hours of Genetics...not 5....does that mean i'm screwed?

So I just realized that I only have 4 hours of Genetics...not 5....does that mean i'm screwed?

A lot of Ohio's hours seemed "different" to me-- it looked like their basic course is 5 credit hours, while most other schools have a basic course of 4 credits.

I think as long as it's an equivalent course, you should be okay. I know plenty of people who've applied without a problem. They had the right number of classes, but different numbers of credits (4 genetics instead of 5, 8 physics instead of 10, etc)
That's IMO, anyway. Someone who's already been accepted might have more info on that, or you could just email the school.

It seems the seat issue is slowly working itself out. I still wouldn't stroll in 5 minutes before class and assume my seat to still be free, but I've also stopped showing up an hour early too. The first week or so was pretty rough.

How many VPH'ers are there? I met one before class started (whose name I will never remember) but do you happen to live with any current vet students?

Are those 4 quarter hours or semester hours though?

I only had 3 semester hours of genetics and apparently it wasn't an issue.

Hey everyone, While looking at this forum, I checked my status at Ohio State. It said incomplete and I was shocked. I knew I had everything in. It looks like there was a problem though, and they need a transcript of mine. It is from Oklahoma State University, for the online animal nutrition class. I had put that school/class on my application in the planned/in progress portion, stating that i will enroll in the class in December 2009(which I will...as I am saving money to do it) It clearly states that I will attend in December 2009-finish( as they give you about a year to finish the course). However, I must have put Spring 2009 instead of Spring 2010 on a separate part of the application. I obviously don't have the transcript, because I am not enrolled, and on two parts of the application is states the correct planned dates of attendance. Ohio States status website says that it is "waived-still needed." What should I do to clarify this? Should I call Ohio and every other school I applied to, admitting to this minor misconception and mistake? Hopefully I am not out of the loop for Ohio State and everywhere else because of a little mistake on one portion of the application( which is clearly stated correctly on two other portions of the app).

Yes I got the first e-mail, but not the second one with the log-in info. That's what I'm meaning by second e-mail.

and you checked your spam folder, and your email is correct on your supplemental app? Sounds like calling them is fairly painless.

Spam folder is empty and it's the same e-mail address they sent the supplemental confirmation to.

I'll be calling them on Monday, but the painful part is waiting until Monday lol.

I would not worry about this too much. In fact, I wouldn't obsess over that online status in general that much. That website is run through the Professional Admissions office rather than the vet med office so it is not always as up to date as you would like. I took an online class in the spring as you are doing and it had a similar thing listed on my status. It is just their way of keeping track of things because that is the same website they list things on after you are accepted, such as your deposit and what not.

I believe there are 17 of us in the VPH cohort this year. You probably met Cait...I know she is living with a couple vet students. I personally have yet to meet any vet students (we only have 1 class at Sisson, the rest are on the other side of campus)...
*And as a side-note, about the credit hours...OSU lists their credits in quarter hours (not semester)...so if your credits are from semesters, you should be fine with meeting their requirements for quarter credit hours (as long as you take what classes they require, you should be set)

So far, we've survived a major quiz in Anatomy and a few clicker quizzes. We have our first real test Tuesday in Cell Bio...but I guess we're still alive. 😀 I know that I am having to study quite a bit, but I've heard some people say certain classes (Cell Bio, Histo) are more review. For me, I usually spend the majority of my study time with anatomy.

As far as the seat issue goes, yes, there are those who are possessive. Originally I wanted to sit towards the front, but I didn't get there early enough. I actually sit in the very back row but haven't had any problems hearing or seeing anything.

For the MPH/VM1 kids; I met two friends who are in the program and they are fitting in just fine. Don't know where that rumor started...🙂

There are 142 of us first years with many Kate/Cait/Caitlin/Katie's/etc ; so I could have met her, but I don't know...

Wait.... is there some sort of combined MPH/DVM program that I am just unaware of here?

Yes. you can get your VMD/MPH in 5 years at OSU... i think? What is really unique though is that you can get a veterinary MPH independently of a VMD as well. Since i'm really interested in PH, this is my backup plan. Get my veterinary MPH and then reapply to veterinary school at OSu. This may be a fairly common plan.... but also a good one b/c as a vet MPH you get to take some classes in the veterinary school 🙂

* If any of this info is incorrect... feel free to correct me

OSU doesn't issue a VMD. Its a DVM. 😉
