Hey,

Has anyone here interviewed at OSU? I'm just wondering what to expect since I have an interview in Nov.

Congrats on getting an interview!

The very first round of interviews started today. It is a very relaxed atmosphere, and everyone is friendly, including the interview committee, so nothing to be nervous about.

When I interviewed last year, there were about 3 people in a room with me that asked me various questions about many topics. It was very low-stress.

You will have the opportunity to tour campus and interact with the students here as well.

Feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions about the OSU interview process, or about the school itself.

Good luck!

Hey I just got word today I was selected for an interview, I am thinking about staying in the area for a few days just to look around.

Is that a good idea and if so what kind of things are there to do around there?

It is a good idea to stay in town and familiarize yourself with the area. Tulsa is an urban area, and the usual things you would find in such an area also exist here.

There are many night spots (pubs, bars, pool halls, dance clubs, etc.) for whatever you are interested in. Several malls offer good shopping opportunities and there are many movie theaters. You may decide to hang out at school and learn more about it as well. Minor league hockey season is active as well. Tulsa has a minor league baseball team but that is of course out of season. It depends on the day of the week and what you are interested in.

Keep in mind there are several universities in town as well. The University of Tulsa and Oral Roberts University offer collegiate athletic events to attend. OSU-Tulsa and OU-Tulsa are also in town.

Let me know if you have any questions about OSU-medicine itself. Being a first year out-of-stater, I only have a limited 4-month basis for knowledge of the Tulsa area.

I'm a native Tulsan, so if you have any questions . . .

25 years in T-town for me. It's a great place.

One thing I always wondered about, Why so many songs about Tulsa and Oklahoma? Mostly C & W tunes:

Livin on Tulsa Time
Okie from Muskogee
Why God made Oklahoma
the musical Oklahoma (where the wind comes sweeping down the plain . . .)

I think there are more, just cant remember them right now.

As OSUdoc08 said, the interviews are usually quite laid back and pleasant. Nothing to stress about. You do want to have some basic knowlegde of osteopathic medicine (look on the sticky -- pre-osteo forum I think but maybe osteo -- for some good links). No need for anything in-depth. 🙂

You're also welcome to PM me if you have any questions. I'm from Tulsa and am currently a third year at OSU-COM.

It looks like i will be in town from the 2nd to the 5th of december.

How does everyone like the school? I am unfamiliar with the OSU campus system, is the health sciences the only part of OSU is tulsa?

Do any of the medical students go to any of the football games for OSU, or do most people not have time? and How far is the main campus from the med school?

thanks for all the info

There is an OSU-Tulsa undergrad campus in another part of town. Our campus has the D.O., Biosciences Ph.D., and Forensics Master's programs. It seems to me like everyone has pride in our school. We try to keep with the OSU Cowboys theme quite a bit on campus.

The OSU students go to quite a few games. We are having an OSU-Medicine game day in a couple of weeks, where we had shirts made and are all going to the game. Stillwater is about an hour away from Tulsa.

OSU-Tulsa doesnt have the same degrees, i dont think they offer one science one or even a science class their, otherwise i could have saved hell of money here =p.

Yes. Bedlam this weekend. OSU-Medicine game day is vs. Baylor. It was vs. Iowa State before but that got moved back due to poor timing.
