Greetings Everyone,

I was wondering if there were any recommendations as to where to live nearby campus for the first year? Anyone from the dental frats?

General question to all: What were some good books that you used to succeed the first year with??

Which professors are the most difficult at OSU??? What are good strategies to prepare for them??

Thanks for your help!! Good luck everyone.

Wow, really dug for this one Joli?

I am currently living in the Psi Omega house on E 13th ave. It's about a 15min walk from the school, and is an absolute Blast! And I can't imagine being as prepared or comfortable in school as I would be without living with all the upper classmen. I get old notes, great advice on professors and tests, help and tips with waxing/drawing, and a close network of friends to cool down from D-school with. Our house has its own dental lab in the basement for doing work at home and not having to go to school late at night.

If you weren't going to live at a frat, I think the answers are as varied as the options. There are classmates who live downtown, German Village, Upper Arlington, University Village, a couple live at The Quarry (google it), and they all commute in with parking passes. A few that are members of the frats (there is a 2nd dental school frat here) but don't live in the house still get to park there. The other frat, "D-frat" is extremely close to school and is a great organization to be a member of, if even just for the parking. Several more students live in the Victorian Village area just south of campus. You can live off Neil and 8th-5th and still be a good bike/walk to class. I wouldn't suggest living too far east, because as you get closer and past Summit St it starts to get iffy and a bad neighborhood. Best thing to do would be to talk to a future classmate of yours (or you can msg me) who is from Columbus and ask about where you're looking to live.
