Is anyone bringing a guest to one of the OSU interview days? My mom wants to go with me, but I am not sure how that would look. I don't want to be the only one with a guest/parent.

Thanks.

there were a lot parents there last year.

Both of my parents are going, they encourage you to bring a guest(s). OSU is one of my top choices and I would like my parents to at least see where I might be the next 4 years. This is the only interview I'm taking my parents to though, it's the only school that encouraged it so far.

Is your interview on the 18th of Oct.?

The two interviews that I had so far there was only 1 parent at each. You might run the risk of being the only one with a parent. IF you don't mind that, then I would go ahead and bring your parents.

interview feedback for OSU says that they encourage guests and they do have ACTIVITIES (tours etc) for your guests when you're interviewing...so i'm definitely considering it

esp since they made a point in the e-mail invite to mention that you may bring guests - in the other interview invites ive gotten its said NOTHING about bringing guests so no one prob brings them to those

Since OSU has only three interview dates I am guessing that there is going to be a lot of students compared to other interviews and therefore maybe a higher chance of more parents coming...any thoughts?

I think if they had not mentioned bringing a guest to the interview, on the invitation, there wouldn't be any parents at the interview. I'm sure most of our parents would love to go to every single interview we get, but most of us won't let them (myself included). When I saw that the school gave me the option to bring my parents, it was clear to me that it wouldn't hurt me if they came. So I invited them, I think they are more excited then I am!

I guess they will be accomidating a big group. At my interviews there were about 8-10 ppl. The two schools said that guests were welcome, but only one person from each group brought a parent. It was a little awkward when we were introducing ourselves, and one person would be like "oh i'm so and so and this is my mom.." I don't think it hurt them by any means, but it was just a little weird and at one interview ppl chuckled a little bit. I don't think it would be weird if there were more parents there, its just that they were the only ones. Also, don't bring your parents if they are going to embarass you. I forget what one mom said, but I remember thinking that I would be embarassed if it were my mom saying that.

Does anyone know approximately how many people show up for one interview date at OSU?

I would like to revive this thread. For those who have OSU interviews or had one in the past couple years, do you think it would be weird to bring a guest? The invitation specifically gives the opportunity to do so. My spouse was interested in possibly attending.

remember they have ONLY 3 INTERVIEW DATES: one in OCT, NOV, and DEC...that's it! so for a class of 104 they've gotta be interviewing a TON at each date

OSU usually interviews 60 at each date. They gave a specific invitation to/for guests and have activities planned for them. Both my parents are coming and I'm sure there will numerous guest attending.

I wouldn't say there were a lot, but there were more than a couple of parents there.

Yea there are plenty of parents there. If you want your parents to come then go for it. No big deal.

I saw a lot of parents at my interview. Not everybody--but a good number. I don't think it would be awkward to bring a guest to OSU. They are very inclusive.

Yesterday there were many parents there. Guests were very welcome.

I'm a ***** and I can't read...

PLEASE bring a guest - a spouse or your parents !! The decision of where to go to dental school is a huge one and your support system (family) should be part of that decision 🙂

We interview 60 applicants at each interview date. Last Saturday, we had 51 guests attending with the applicants. Total guest numbers range from 40-80.

Feel free to contact our office with any questions 614-292-3361.

Now maybe I'm going against what everyone else has said but I was told by an advisor that unless your guest is someone like a spouse who will be affected by your acceptance to that dental, then don't bring them. This isn't meant to sound mean but unless your mom is going to move with you to your college and live with you, then you shouldn't bring them. Be a big boy/girl.

I feel like at OSU there were a lot of guests, so I would have to disagree with your statement here. More than half of the interviewee's had guests I feel like.

I think dentamitOSU clarified this situation. Maybe you need a new advisor-big boy.

I am bringing a guest and also bringing my walking shoes since they said you get extra points 🙂

I will readily admit I prematurely answered the question without really reading the title with OSU in it...I don't read good...my bad fellows [demoted from big boy to little man 🙁]

I would actually suggest bringing a guest, especially if you don't know anyone else going to the interview. It helped me feel a little more comfortable because i had people i knew there. Not to mention the event is well run with great food and is probably something a guest would enjoy.

With your DAT and RC score, I don't think reading is a problem. I think you will get promoted quickly back to big boy at a lone star dental school in the very near future

You definitely have a big boy sense of humor- quite refreshing for this board👍
