Just got back from OSUCOM open house. VERY impressed! I want to thank all the AmbassaDOrs for their help and great information. 👍

Please tell about your experience. I've never been to OSUCOM, but it looks great on the website.

thanks

Hey Blaze--
I was also there on Saturday and enjoyed my visit. USCguy, what impressed me the most about OSU was how genuine the students and faculty were in their excitement of being at OSU. It is a small class (88--that's small compared to other schools I have looked at) and all the classes are held in one building, which is nice. The student I ate lunch with emphasized how supportive the faculty was throughout medical school. She said even if a student did poorly, the faculty will do anything to assist them--tutors, extra time, etc. I am a female, married, non-trad, and it spoke loudly to me that they have a special group just for spouses to help support them while we are in medical school. It did seem to prefer Oklahoma residents, since it is a state school, and they are ranked highly in rural medicine, if that is your bag. The school is located next to the Arkansas river and there is a fantastic 20+ mile bike/running path within walking distance to the school. But maybe Blaze can tell you some other aspects I missed.

I don't know as much about osu as those already going there, but one of the cool things about them that I can think of is that they let you check out lots of anatomical study devices to take home. They resemble lifesize toys. (That's what I was told by Stacy when I toured there last summer anyway).

OSU also has the highest board passing rate or close to it. It fluctuates, but I understand they had a 100% pass rate a couple of yrs ago. An unusal feat in itself.

It's impossible to fail-out with all the tutoring they offer...unless you just have a drinking problem or something 🙂

The school and faculty didn't try to sell the school like i've heard some other students complain about other schools doing, the place sold itself! It was amazing to see the number of studnets that took time out to show us around. I partnered up with a first-year in the omm lab and it felt like I was a student. Every student I passed in the hall asked if we had any questions they couldn't wait to help us very impressive. Even though they were setting up for a neuroanatomy practical the people in the lab couldn't wait to give us all the information we wanted. I spoke with Dontae, a second year at lunch he told me how family comes first at the school, everyone knows his kids and let me know my wife and kids would be welcome as well. 3 professors came to talk to Dontae as we talked at lunch about various aspects of class, all of them knew him personally that impressed me greatly.

No problem any other questions?
