I am set to do an audition rotation at OSU Tulsa and I have some general questions about the clerkship:
1.)Can someone tell me the intensity of the clerkship hourwise
2.)Would it be advisable to take boards prior to this rotation or would I have enough time to get some studying done while on the rotation to take boards at the end of the rotation?
3.)How involved are students in this clerkship-Do we get to do procedures, see or own patients, etc...

Thank you for any responses in advance.

Been a few years since I've been there but I don't think the clerkship has changed significantly.

Figure on 15 12 hour shifts with 4 hrs lecture/week. You'll have to decide if that gives you enough boards study time, but I'd think it would.

Yes, you'll have your own patients and them present them to a resident or attending. You'll get to do some procedures, probably mostly suturing and LPs, but sometimes other things depending on what comes in and time of year (early in the academic year the EM interns will get more of the procedures).

It's a good teaching ER with a good mix of sick patients along with with more routine stuff. They're big on being efficient and learning how to keep patient flow moving in the ED.
