This is the most difficult decision I've ever had to make. I've had my heart set on attending OSU during the whole application process and I applied to WashU not anticipating to even be accepted. Not only was I accepted, but I also received some financial assistance that make both school the same price to attend. I've visited both schools, I love both the programs, and I know that at the end of the day there isn't a wrong decision since both schools are fantastic.

If anyone wants to provide a lil imput, I'd greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Personally I think OSU is just overall more known. But I could be wrong.

How about the towns that you'll live in for the next 2-3 years?

I think I've seen you post before that Ohio is your home state right? I would do WashU because it'll be something different and a new city/state to live in! The program is very highly regarded and I actually think WashU is very well known when it comes to any health related or medical programs so it will look good on your resume (I spoke with two OTs who went there & said going there has definitely come up with job opportunities). If you are looking to be close to family - go to OSU. If you want some adventure and new experiences - go to WashU. Both will give you a solid education and opportunities!

Although I think OSU is a great school with obvious national recognition, I honestly think Wash U has a little more prestige in the health field. They have a very top-ranked undergrad and very, very top-ranked medical schools and grad schools, etc.. (and definitely the reason why you were able to get such great financial assistance there, i'm sure they'e got a great endowment) So to the people who are into that sort of school prestige I think Wash U would have the better reputation of the two. Honestly, though, I bet you will get an outstanding education at either school and i doubt it would really matter much once you're there. now you have the luxury of picking based on where you want to live and experience!

Congrats on both!

I did my undergrad at a fellow Big Ten school, so I definitely give OSU some points 🙂

That being said, they are both well respected. I currently work at a spinal cord rehab center in Baltimore and there is a PT WashU alum here. She loved her experience there and says that her time at WashU prepped her for so well for the real world of rehab! She also mentioned that the preparation for the boards, while they are certainly not the most important thing for OT/PT programs, was very helpful and she felt confident taking them. I imagine that the OT department there has similar preparation for their students.

Either way, it sounds like you have two wonderful options. Congrats!!
