Thanks😕

When did you interview? I interviewed on the 2nd and was rejected, but there were different reports from different people. Sarah said there were between 60 and 70 students accepted at that point. At the end of the day, Dana told us there were only 7 seats left available.

I have a friend that went to the admitted students day on the 3rd and said there were about 43 students there with 3 ( i think) admitted students that did not attend.

Honestly, I am not sure why there are such varying figures or why it is so hard to get a straight answer.

Best of Luck getting of the waitlist. It is a good school and the people are 👍 even if the beaurocracy leaves much to be desired.

I interviewed mid february. They told us there were about 25 spots left at that time. I got accepted but I had to trun down the offer. Great school, just had to make a really hard decision.

I was one of the lucky ones that did not get waitlisted, I applied early and interviewed on Nov 14th. Apparently, OSU must like people from Utah: scootdoc, me, and my classmate both receive an acceptance letter from OSU. Hopefully, you will get taken off the waitinglist.😀

Hey thanks for all the info.. I interviewed on the March 1. One of the students said that there were about 35 spots left that day, as did my advisor. However I have gotten a lot of different numbers. Today, I was informed that there were about 20 spots left from my advisor. Not sure what the deal is.

That's my boy MEDMAN20. Is your classmate nalgie24? nalgie is from Utah as well. MEDMAN what undergrad institution did you attend? Anyway, it'll be pretty cool if we all go down to OSU. We'll be the mormon mafia! ha ha! given of course that you are LDS. later.👍

With your first question, I attend Southern Utah University. In your second question, no I am not Mormon (sorry)   . I moved to southern Utah to attend school. Orginally from Florida.

Ummm.......................maybe we could be the Utah mafia......ha ha! Sorry man! Sometimes you just assume....I'm sure I'm not the only one to have made that mistake. PEACE.

Haven't seen any action on this thread so just thought i would put in my 2cents...talked to Lea today in admissions office and she said that w/in 2 weeks or so they would be cutting the waitlist b/c the deadline for deposits are coming up, may15 i believe...i was just wondering if anyone knew the approximate number of people on the final waitlist and if anyone has seen the fedex truck lately...where the hell is it?

Riker here.

I interviewed at this school in early December and was accepted. One of the reasons I chose not to attend was because one cannot specialize from there.

😕 I have no clue where you'd get that idea from. Heck, one of this year's graduates is going into an MD neurosurgery residency.

Hey guys. Thought I'd let you all know that I am dropping my offer at OSUCOM. I will be attending my state MD school. Love the school though. I would have gone there, but decisions are always made according to the almighty dollar$$$ (saving ~$75,000 overall) plus, a few less hoops to jump through. However, the good news is that one of you will get the seat. Good Luck All!!! Later!!!

This is completely and utterly false. Within the last 2 years they've had great placement at some very competitive allopathic programs.

How do you know? I was told that almost all of their graduates go into primary care.

How do you know? I was told that almost all of their graduates go into primary care.

Just because the majority of their graduates go into primary care doesn't mean that it's impossible to specialize. "Almost all" is 60% or something like that, and that number still includes people who might do subspecialty training. Do you think that all those specialty residencies that they have are only for grads from other schools? 🙄

And their matchlist for the past few years is posted in the matchlist thread. That's a good way to know that it is indeed possible to specialize from OSU.

How do you know? I was told that almost all of their graduates go into primary care.

And this proves what? They've had anesthesia spots at Vanderbilt and Barnes-Jewish in St Louis. this year they had one of the only 2 DO's who matched into Neurosurgery. Just because most go into primary care does not mean they can not specialize. In the class of 2007, they had 3 99%ers on USMLE/COMLEX, 1 went into neurosurgery, 1 into EM, and the other i'm not sure about. Several of this years top students Choose to go into primary care despite them easily having the stats to match into just about any program they wanted.

Dear Riker,

It is a rare individual who can stick the foot in the mouth so often and yet be able to speak.

Just some information from the lists posted.

There are 256 grads with placements which equal 85 grads per class. The entering class at OSU is 88/year.

Of those 256 matched specialties include:
Placement - # - %

Traditional Intership - 32 - 12.5
Family Practice - 64 - 25
OB/GYN - 15 - 5.8
Internal Medicine - 31 - 12.1
Psychiatry - 8 - 3.1
ENT/Facial plastics - 1
Orthopedics - 5 - 2
General Surgery - 16 - 6.25
Pathology - 2
Anesthesiology - 15 - 5.8
Diag. Radiology - 5 - 2
Emer. Medicine 28 11
PM&R - 5 - 2
Pediatrics - 25 - 9.7
Opthomology - 1
Military Medicine - 3

All this sums to the fact that even if every person doing a Traditional internship chooses a primary care specialty (read highly unlikely) the % of students specializing would be 32% over the 3 year period reported. Also please note that as metioned earlier, many students choose OSU-COM specifically to become Primary care providers, hence the national ranking in primary care and rural medicine.

Those are the facts. Thank you please drive through.

Thanks for the laughs there riker. I needed a break from studying for finals. I think I keep coming back here because I get to see a very skewed perspective on things from people such as yourself.

So... anybody heard anything yet about the waitlist? I have still yet to get any info about the "cut" list.

Hey, I'm right there with you... Still waiting on the final waitlist (insert evil laugh here) to come out. I was told late may/early june.... Should be any time now.

Yup. I talked to a guy yesterday who said that he had gotten his letter on friday. I just keep waiting.😕 Good luck to you.

im waiting on that ominous rejection letter. should be here any time. thank god im in elsewhere.

So I received a letter saying that I'm on the "final" waitlist. Anyone know what this means exactly? Such as, whether this is a good or bad thing? I called up there last week and the lady made it sound like it wasn't all that good. 😕

Well I mean thats better than being outright cut (im still waiting on that letter to get here) but its not quite being accepted. that essentially means that if someone drops between now and august, they call from the final wait list and give the people X amount of time and if no response or a decline, they move on to the next one. best of luck (well sorta, i'd like to go there too!)

im out of it, at least I know where I stand now. best of luck to everyone

Hey me to.. Oh well, there loss. Better luck to everyone next year.
