Just heard yesterday, going to be interviewing there the 30! Anyone else scheduled to interview then? Also, I am from Tulsa if anyone has any questions about lodging or whatnot

I'm interviewing the 30th. See you there man or woman...

woo whooo I want to be a doctor!!

Finally got the call!!!! Yeah baby!!!!!!! It's my 1st choice DO school!!!!!!!

Which day will you be there?

Well, I was extended an invitation to interview on either 11/30 or 12/1, but after talking with her it slipped out that my birthday is 11/30 and so then she insisted I come on either 12/18,19, or 20th. so I'm not traveling on my B-day. It all worked out pretty good I guess. Home on my B-day & at OSUCOM on 12/18.

Dude, I would have went on my birthday, and pointed it out just to see if it would sway them in my favor. 😀

Congrats emoney!! I'm from Tulsa, are you looking for something close to the school? There are a couple of hotels downtown, the Adams Mark, Double Tree and a new one called Crown Plaza. The Crown is pretty steep in price, not too sure about the Adams Mark, 200-300 a night probably, about the same for the Double Tree I think. If it's not too late I can get you some more definitive numbers. Good luck.

The Crowne isn't too bad in price with the prearranged discount for OSU interviewees. Watch out, though, my car was broken into at the parking garage there last night. 😡

Did anyone else get their interview cancelled on the 30th due to the weather because I have but i reschedulled.

This question is from an undergrad still getting the hang of the med school application processes.
I have heard that usually if you get the interview, you are almost 95% in already, unless you screw up real bad.
Is there any truth behind this?

Sorry about the cancellation...I was supposed to take COMLEX 3 today & it got cancelled, too, so I feel your pain.

Don't know if you're here, but if you're not-- we have measurable ice on the roads & are expecting 8-10" of snow today. Tulsa has been know to grind to a halt with no ice & 2" of snow, so this is a really significant storm for us & you don't want to be in the middle of it.

A little less than 50-50. For the class stats listed, they had 1,075 applications & offered 199 interviews for 88 spots.

I used the site by Dr. Mom if you're in state you've got a 50% chance but if you're out of state it's more like 25% chance. Good luck.

According to the USNews data, your odds of being admitted post interview if you're oos are pretty good. Last year, they interviewed 41 out of 224 oos applicants and admitted 23 of them. The year before, they interviewed something like 36 oos applicants and accepted 30 I think. One think to note is that all schools offer wind up accepting more people than their number of spots because not all accepted students matriculate at that school. Last year, OSU accepted 116 students for 88 spots.

They max out on out-of-state students around 14-15. That # will go up if the class size increases (as I've heard is happening) as that max is a percentage of the class rather than an exact #.

OSU could have accepted 23-30 oos applicants, but that means that the # over 14-15 declined pretty quickly.

True, but statistically most of the oos applicants are going to decline their spot, so the odds of them accepting twice as many oos people as they have spots for isn't really that small. Anyway, if you really want to go OSU and are oos, don't turn down the interview based on the thought that you have a poor chance of being admitted.

They told us at the interview on 11/29 that, because of the national mandate to beat the projected physician shortage, they were adding 9 seats a year starting next year until they reach around 115 seats, IIRC.

Man that really sucks about your car🙁 . Sorry that happened to you, but downtown can be a little bad at times. Lots of people move through there.

So are they rescheduling a make up day for the cancelled interview, or are they just giving everyone who was scheduled on the 30th first pick at the next interview date?

Just curious; actually, just trying to find out if they will consider the batch I interviewed with together with the people who were supposed to be on the 30th, or not. 😉

Also, does anyone know how many out of state students interviewed in the first round of interviews if any?
