Christmas is coming... a lot of the forum members are probably as broke as I am... I'm having a difficult time trying to figure out what to give my close friends, family and boyfriend as gifts this year!

So... go!

My go-to gift is baked goods. I do a lot of baking at home, so I'll make a batch of pumpkin bread that gets me about 5 mini-loaves to give as gifts. And I can buy cute saran-wrap and put a ribbon on it.

The boyfriend and I have basically agreed that we're too poor for presents. We bought ourselves a new TV this summer as a combined "present" for both of our birthdays and Christmas.

a love box - a box containing your love wrapped with wrapping paper with a note on it saying "Do not open, or my love will leak out of the box"

this was my little sister's favorite gift to give out when she was younger 🙄

I'll share a couple that I've done... usually when I try to give cheap gifts, they end up costing me more than I think 😛

I made sugar cookies for my boyfriend our first Christmas together. I put blue sugar sprinkles on them because blue is his favorite colour. Well... it turns out that he's not really a fan of sugar cookies but mine were good. *Phew* that was a close one!

For my ex one year, I bought clear box that has compartments in it. I made a picture of a guitar out of scrapbook paper in his favorite colour and filled the box with picks and a tuning fork.

I got two of my girlfriends earrings while on the VIDA trip, but I'm going to have to come up with something else for them.

I also just found out that my old friend who has abandonded us the last couple of years is planning on showing up at our Christmas gathering. I'm going to have to get her something, but I'm not happy about it... I might be mean, but the last two Christmas gatherings she attended, she had a negative attitude, and she refused to keep in touch when we went our separate ways for university. I didn't buy her cool Nicaraguan earrings because we hadn't talked for... a year and a half... now I'm going to have to find her something just as cool 😛

Haha, that is a good idea. I might bring that up with my friends. They're cool like that... then give my two good friends the earrings I bought when the other isn't around.

Ditto homemade stuff and baked goods. Or combine those two into cookies in a jar. You layer the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, chocolate chips, etc.) of a cookie recipe in a jar alternating dark and light. Decorate the top of the jar with ribbon or whatever you like. Include the recipe and the receiver just adds the wet ingredients (butter, vanilla, eggs, etc) for instant cookies. yummy 🙂

Also, maybe look around for restaurants offering good deals on gift cards. I know sometimes if you buy a $20 gift card, you get a free $5 card/coupon. Makes it a little cheaper.

My friends and I don't really make a big deal out of xmas/new years gifts. In fact, I don't think we got each other anything last yr. We'll give presents for birthdays though.
For a group of friends, secret santa is a good way to go...everyone gets a gift but you only have to buy 1.

You arent on FB! I tried! Last night, I started typing and then you went offline. It made me 🙁

We have been together ALL DAY and you haven't said anything to me! Now you don't get any more baked goods from me until I get the goods from you!

On the gift front, my family has grown so much because of marriages and babies that we decided to draw names for gifts this year so that we only have to buy one.
